Our Charge

The Pleasantdale School District 107 Board of Education is charging the community to take an active role in shaping the future of our schools through a community engagement process where participants will work together to learn, discuss, and make recommendations that reflect what is best for our students and our community.

Reimagine D107 is a community effort to help plan for the future of Pleasantdale School District 107’s school buildings. It brings together families, staff, and the community at large to talk about what our schools need now and in the years ahead. A young girl with braided hair smiles while working on a paper.

This work comes at an important moment for our district as we face challenges that affect every part of our schools and the students we serve.

These challenges include:

  • A lack of space at the elementary level
  • Growing safety needs
  • Changing student  learning and support needs
  • Providing a developmentally appropriate setting for our 5th graders
  • Limited preschool options
  • A growing and changing community

At the heart of this effort is our shared commitment to students. Pleasantdale School District 107’s mission is to foster an empowered and engaged community of passionate, resilient lifelong learners. That work starts with our students and extends to every parent, staff member, and neighbor who plays a role in helping them learn and grow.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Reimagine D107: Shape What’s Next is a community-led process to bring families, staff, and the community at large together to develop shared goals and priorities for the future of our school facilities. Led by a team of community volunteers, the process includes community workshops, building tours, and an online survey, all focused on listening, learning, and planning together.
This work comes at an important moment for our district as we navigate challenges that touch every part of D107, including:

    • A lack of space at the elementary level
    • Increased safety concerns
    • Changing student needs
    • Providing a developmentally appropriate setting for our 5th graders
    • Limited preschool options
    • Changing community demographics, and new developments within the community.

Through open dialogue and collaboration, Reimagine D107 creates space for the community to explore these challenges together and help shape thoughtful, long-term solutions. The goal is to ensure that any future improvements reflect shared values, respond to real needs, and support student growth now and in the years ahead.

  • Everyone in the Pleasantdale D107 community is invited, including parents, staff, students, alumni, and residents. Every voice matters, and all are welcome to join our workshops, building tours and open houses.

  • We encourage everyone to join as many workshops as possible, but you do not need to attend them all. Each workshop builds on the previous ones, and your input is valuable whether you attend one or several.

  • This is our chance to ensure our schools continue meeting the needs of our students and community now and for generations to come.
Your ideas are shaping a final report for the Board of Education. The work of Reimagine D107 participants will help guide decisions about areas such as academics, facilities, enrollment, and long-term priorities.

  • Reimagine D107 is a community-led process. A Facilitating Team made up of parents, staff, community members and district leaders is designing the workshops, gathering feedback, and preparing the final report for the Board of Education.

  • Each workshop includes an overview of district data, challenges and opportunities, followed by small-group activities where participants work together to share ideas and identify priorities. The feedback gathered will directly inform the final plan that is presented to the board.

  • Workshops run from 6 to 8 p.m. We will respect your time and end by 8 p.m.

  • All workshops begin at 6 p.m. at Pleasantdale Middle School, 7450 S Wolf Rd, Burr Ridge, IL 60527.

  • During the community workshops, participants will learn more about D107’s facilities, finances, possible solutions to the district’s challenges and more.

Each session will feature an interactive work activity with fellow participants to help identify the community’s priorities to move our school buildings forward. The results of the workshops and community survey will be included in a final report that will be presented to the Board of Education in June.

  • Yes. Summaries of each workshop are posted on the district website, and surveys and other opportunities are available throughout the process.

  • Yes, childcare is offered for children ages 3 and older. RSVP information is available on the Reimagine D107 webpage.

  • This work continues the conversation that began in 2023. We listened, gathered updated information, and took time to reflect. What we learned is clear. The needs identified then still exist today.

Both schools remain crowded, space is limited, and safety and security needs continue to evolve. At the same time, student learning and support needs are changing, preschool options remain limited, and questions about a developmentally appropriate setting for 5th graders are still unresolved, all within a community that continues to grow and change.

Reimagine D107 builds on that earlier work, but with a process that starts by listening rather than presenting solutions. Families, staff and community members are being invited into the conversation early to help identify priorities, ask questions, and shape what comes next for our schools together.
